New Year's Eve- Syracuse style

We rang in the New Year last night by attending a party hosted by friends of Susan and Rob.

It was a bash based on a bowling theme, and food and drink items were all to begin with the letter "b".
We figured all alcoholic drinks could be classified as booze, so everything from wine to whiskey sours fell into that category. Susan suggested that Tom use his new bartending skills to produce brandy alexanders, which were a hit!
In the food category we had buffalo chicken dip, Sue's shrimp served on a blue plate ( blue plate special), barbequed shrimp, blueberry pork, burgers, baba ganoush, blue cheese bites, brownies, and lots, lots more!

These little penguins were created using black olives!

Our talented hostess Kim shows off her bowling shirt.

Bowling pin name tags....more on that later

We were organized into bowling teams, each team captained by a techno-savvy young person.

The captains were awesome, and actually managed to get their teams of adults to compete in a Wii bowling tournament. The kids had the edge of having bowled with the Wii several times before, but the adults managed to post some high scores as well, and it was extemely fun way to spend the evening.
Tom & I had never seen the Wii in use before, and we decided we want one!

The kids helped with the countdown as well.....

The evening ended with a spirited gift exchange with a twist - as gifts were opened, the rules dictated that you could take an unopened gift from the pile or steal one from someone else. There was a sports-themed throw that proved to be quite popular and changed hands many times throughout this activity!

Many thanks to all the wonderful people we met last night for inviting us to join in the fun. You are all welcome in Prague anytime!
