The lost is found

Some time ago this chair disappeared from our lawn at the marina. We always assumed it had blown away in a storm, but we were not able to find it. The longer the chair was gone, the more stories were told about its disappearance! The final version was that "canoe people" had paddled into the marina in the middle of the night and had stolen it.

Well, a couple of days ago Tom went out on the dock and spotted it on the bottom in the empty slip. It seems that it had blown under our neighbor's boat and was hidden in the seaweed all this time.

That isn't dirt on the chair, or even seaweed - it is zebra mussels. See the next photo for a close up.

Yuck!

So - it turns out THEY stole the chair afterall!! After making up stories about the canoe people...and boy, talk about a science experiment in the making. I bet one of the boys could have used that for a lab project in school...
