Happy days are here again

Finally- sunshine & warmth-t-shirts & shorts. From the ridiculous (a foot of snow last week!) to the sublime (75 today!)

We spent the weekend uncovering the boat, cleaning, rearranging, and getting ready for launch day. The lake is too high to launch right now, (our dock is under water), but we are on the schedule for May 2.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Milestone Birthday - 62!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM!!

ah- the age of decision making.. take less Social Security now, or work until "normal" retirement age of 66?

All the advice we've received says "Take the money and run!"

Although Cyndy says he can't actually STOP selling houses, Tom is ready to enjoy the summer.

Spring in The Northeast

Spring here in Central NY is such a joyous time!

Here is a picture of my forsythia in full bloom!

I can deal with this all winter, but not in April! I am working from home today - this is Cyndy's snow day.

All the schools between here and Syracuse are closed, and trees are coming down because this snow is wet and heavy. Apparently I made the right decision to stay here by the fire, because the power is off at our office, and I wouldn't have been able to work there anyway.

Yes, this is a different vehicle in our driveway. It's Tom's birthday present!

Happy Easter!

April Birthdays

Birthday greetings to all those celebrating birthdays in April (This is in case your cards are late!)

Nephew Rich turned 40 something on April 1 (I don't want to know exactly how old he is- that makes me think of how old I really am!)

And tomorrow is a special day for great nephew & budding track star Garrett Evans- he turns 14! Happy birthday Garrett! See the link to the Evans family blog for up-to-date photos.

Son-in-law & chef extraordinaire celebrates his birthday April 11, (see Erika & Mike's blog)

Tom, who is much older than I am, celebrates a birthday this month on the 18th,

and another nephew, Alex, will reach a milestone birthday on April 28. He turns 16!

Squirrel 10, Tom 0

These images are a little blurry, as they were taken through the window.

It took him all winter, but this guy figured out how to circumvent the red funnels. (See archived post)

(and yes, that is snow in the background. April 6 and we have an inch or so of snow on the ground! )

Cherry Blossom Time in DC

Tom & I got tired of the snow, and took a quick trip to DC to visit Erika & Mike. It was so interesting to see the signs of spring emerging the further south we went.

These folks are enjoying the sun at Sandy Point State Park on the Chesapeake Bay just East of Annapolis, MD.

This is the tulip tree in Erika's front yard.

We went into the city on Saturday to experience the cherry blossom festival. Lots of blossoms, and people, and dogs, and kids - and an extra bonus - lots of kites!! It was a beautiful, made-to-order day for kite flying. The wind was strong enough to keep them up in the air, and the spectacle was stunning! If you click on the image, it should enlarge, and you will be able to see the kites better.

Erika, Mike & the dogs....

blossoms far away.....
and blossoms up close.....

And this is a shot of DC's finest - we heard them say "What? You forgot the donuts?"

We had a wonderful time as usual, dining OUTSIDE on a patio, enjoying a fire in the backyard, and eating Mike's fabulous butternut squash soup.
