Feathers & Fins

This family of merganzer ducks doesn't seem to mind the rain!

Mother's Day 2006

We did make a quick trip to VA to spend Mother's Day with Erika & Mike. Mike's Mom & her husband, and his sister were there as well. We enjoyed good food & wine, stimulating conversation, and a great campfire in their backyard!

Erika put us to work retrieving old bricks from a demolished house, which we used to line her flower beds. Sandy, Mike's mom, brought some plants from her garden so we planted those, and trimmed up some of the bushes.

We also enjoyed getting to know our new "granddoggies". We accompanied them on their walks, and especially loved the near-by dog park where the dogs can run off leash and enjoy a neighboring waterway.

Proud dog owners!

The Merry, Merry Month of May

I'm sure it must be a wonderful month somewhere, but here, it has been for the most part cold, windy & rainy.

We launched the boat on Friday, April 28, and of course spent the weekend. I went home on that Sunday evening, cleaned the big house for the last time, and came home to the boat Monday evening. The weather was great at that point, but unfortunately it did not stay that way. That doesn't matter to us or the other few hardy souls who also make full use of their boats. We know that sooner or later, it will warm up.

We decided to go to a wireless computer hookup this summer, which means that if it ever warms up, we can use our computers on the top deck or at the picnic table. Many of our neighbors are also enjoying our router's signal - perhaps we should start serving coffee!

Now on to the pictures!

At home with the big boys!
