The Big Apple

Gotta love NYC!

Thanks to the corporation for which I work , I get to visit a few times a year, and this past week Tom & I spent the weekend in the city to celebrate his birthday. I had to attend a meeting on Tuesday, so we thought arriving in the city on the Saturday before would be just about right. We booked a hotel through priceline.com, and I have to say we did get a great deal. Saturday & Sunday were nasty, cold, and wet, so we wandered through Macy's and adjacent stores, sat in a lot of Starbucks, and watched people in Grand Central Station.

Sunday PM & Monday were much better in terms of weather, but the threat of rain kept us from carrying the camera. It seemed that the umbrella was all we could handle. Tuesday was a much better day, (naturally, since I was stuck inside) but Tom took his camera out and about and captured these images.

It's not easy turning green!

Last weekend things were looking up in Central NY. The temperature climbed to near 60, and the sun was shining. so off to the marina we went.

If you look closely, you can see that the trees are getting ready to burst into leaf :-)

These are coots- just passing through. A sure sign of spring.

Tom and his favorite tree! There's a resemblance, don't you think?

The dredger damage wasn't too bad this year, a few buckets of grass seed and we should be green again.

This looks more like home!

OK, Tom. Up & at'em. It's time to uncover the boat.

A little bottom paint, a little polish, and we're ready to launch!

But wait, there's a sad ending to this story. We returned home in high spirits, planning more time at the boat, but....WE HAVE MORE SNOW!!!!! The trees and grass were covered again, and yes, it was pretty, but enough is enough.

So, just to remind ourselves that summer always comes, here are a couple of pics from last year.
